What is happening
Malawi's key safari locations — Liwonde, Majete, Nyika, the lake — are spread across the country and not connected by efficient public transport. Private transfers between parks are the standard option, and they accumulate quickly across a multi-stop itinerary.
Why it matters
A lodge that appears competitively priced can look very different once transfers are included. A three-park itinerary may involve multiple full-day drives or a combination of road and light aircraft. This is the layer most budget comparisons omit.
How to use it
Map the route before pricing accommodation. Identify which legs can be combined, which require a dedicated vehicle and where a charter flight is the more rational choice. Then build the lodge budget around what remains.
